Arbanasi

Arbanasi is an old settlement in Bulgaria, located on a high plateau with a view to the hills of Tzarevetz and Trapezitza, four kilometers away from Veliko Tarnovo. It's famous for its beautiful and remarkable houses and churches with rich interior decoration, wood-carving, and mural paintings created in XVI - XVII century. Namely these unique monuments from the Bulgarian architectural and arts heritage are the cause for Arbanassi to be so often visited not only by tourists but also by Bulgarian and foreign scientists, archeologists, historians, architects, and artists. With a tsar decree from 1921 the settlement is declared resort, and in 2000 it is proclaimed "historical settlement" with national significance.

Despite its almost ancient origin - the house was built almost 200 years ago - its ancient appearance has been preserved till now.
